I started Naturalmommie.com over a year ago and since I primarily focus on eco-friendly products, I can usually tell what’s up when it comes to whether or not a company is sincere in its green endeavors or not. Something I cannot stand is companies who create cleaning products who are only in it for the money. They lie about their ingredients {or refuse to disclose altogether} and take advantage of consumers who are genuinely trying to use eco-friendly, non-toxic, safe products in their homes. I refused to post for a major brand that is very popular because of their new “green” formula because guess why? They still test on animals!!! Nice eh?
It was so refreshing to be emailed about a genuine eco-friendly company that creates completely safe, reputable cleaning products. The company is called Planet People and one of their product lines, the Gloves Off collection, includes ecologically sensitive Carpet Care cleaner, Calcium Lime & Rust Remover, Tough Stain Remover, Disinfectant & Cleaner and Professional Grade Disinfectant. The name of the product is perfect – my gloves are off and ready to tackle dirt and grime but safely and toxin free with no worries of chemical burns and cracked dry skin.
Somehow the people behind these products took the time to figure out how to make a non-toxic product capable of not just killing any germs, but we’re talking H1N1 and influenza. Crazy!! And if there’s any doubt that this product kills superbugs like H1N1, just check with Health Canada – it’s a registered cleaner suitable for hospital use since it kills 99.95% of bacteria and viruses without ammonia or bleach.
I had the chance to test out the Disinfectant & Cleaner, the Tough Stain & Paint Remover and Mold Control. All of these products are planted based and biodegradable. The Disinfectant & Cleaner solution’s active ingredients are thyme and oregano oil and it does have the scent of those two herbs. It left my counter tops very clean, slippery and smooth {read: no residue!!}, and lifted crusted on sauces from my stove top extremely quickly. I just sprayed and they were instantly lifted without having to let the cleaner sit. It’s completely multipurpose too. Use it on counters in the kitchen, bathroom, pet areas, highchair and even baby toys.
I’m completely fascinated with Gloves Off Tough Stain & Paint Remover. This product can be used on almost any hard and fabric surface including wood, laminated surfaces, hard plastics, rubber, metal, glass, brick, grout, fiberglass, clothing, upholstery and carpet. Wow. I have some coffee mug ring stains on my counters that I’ve been meaning to attack so I used this product. Sure enough it removed them. Usually I use bleach or comet {gasp!} because it’s the only thing that works!! Never again!
I also sprayed my shower and tub with it but forgot to go back to wipe and rinse. When I remembered to check on it I found that the cleaner ate right through the soap scrum on the taps and faucet without any scrubbing. All I had to do was a quick wipe to remove the soap scum residue and the job was done.
I’m very excited about learning about these new products on the market and hope you are all too! Available at Canadian Tire and Home Depot for $7.99.
