I’m sitting here daydreaming about my recent trip to review the Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand while looking through all 500 pics I took and having a hard time trying to decide which ones to share! This will be the first of a series of posts about my stay in Cancun, because it’s just too much to put all in one post. There’s the resort, the restaurants, the spa, the gym and then there’s the activities available off the resort like Xcaret and they definitely all deserve a post on their own!

For families, husband and wives and newlyweds who don’t want to be around the party when they’re trying to cram in a year’s worth of R&R in a week, the Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand is where you want to be. Royal Holiday stepped up and created a luxurious, serene, calm, beautiful resort that is definitely an experience. This property has been completely renovated and is now a boutique, 5 star hotel  that I am thankful I was able to explore! A bed? By the pool? With pillows? With a drink in my hand and the sun shining? Am I dreaming? No. This is your reality when you stay here with Royal Holiday and it’s absolutely fantastic. Smooth jazz and lounge music is overheard and lets you fall into relaxation mode as soon as you step foot on the resort. As you can see in the pic below, there is no weathered furniture. What you’ll find is  modern, chic, outdoor furniture that really feels too good to be true!

Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand is only 10 miles from the airport and located in the “hotel zone”. I always thought that the “hotel zone” was the party zone, but that’s just not the case. See! I’m here to clear up all your misconceptions about this beautiful island. You can thank me later and enjoy a margarita for me when you’re staying at the Park Royal Grand next winter!! With it’s prime location comes a fantastic view with an expansive beachfront for all guests to enjoy. Even from your room you’ll enjoy floor to ceiling glass sliding doors so you can inhale the fresh, ocean air! The white sandy beach that Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand is known for is absolutely breathtaking. The size of it alone makes you feel like you have your own private beach.

There are numerous places to eat on the resort including a 24 hour gourmet coffee house called Cafe Sole, full of choices like fresh sandwiches on baguettes, fruit trays, cheese trays, salads, cookies and other yummy sweets – even icecream! You can get your caffeine fix with regular coffees, cappuccinos, espresso, flavored coffees and teas.

During regular hours there are two restaurants to choose from including the Cocay and La Concha.  Both are casual but much more refined than other all inclusive resorts I’ve experienced! My breakfast usually consisted of fresh granola, juicy raisins, handfuls of pecans and walnuts topped over strawberry yogurt. If you need something more substantial you’ll find waffles, fluffy pancakes and omelets, croissants – there’s too much to list! There’s also a pizza bar next to the pool called Pizza Corner and another poolside snack area called El Jardin Snack where you can order up fresh hamburgers and nachos. You will never go hungry while suntanning here!!

The bar/lounge area just off the lobby is also the entrance to the Oriental Restaurant. Lounge music plays, the lights are dim and it makes for a relaxed meeting space at the end of the day before dinner or a place to enjoy drinks with your friends, partner, anyone really! The atmosphere is perfect!

Dinner at the a la carte restaurants is an absolute must. Both the Italian and Oriental cuisine is fantastic and both have impeccable service. The Italian fine dining restaurant, El Mirador was an experience in an of itself.   The selections of appetizers, soups, breads and main courses were vast. The desserts? Over the top delicious.

So what is Royal Holiday? It’s a collection of properties where you can purchase all inclusive vacations {best rates are found on expedia right now} but it’s also a vacation club – not a timeshare. It’s a club where you purchase your membership and instead of having to go back to the same condo/hotel/beach house year after year like you would with a timeshare,  you use a points  system that gives you access to stay at any of the nearly 200 destinations covering 5 continents that Royal Holiday has worldwide. Mexico, France, New York…the choice is yours. Or if you prefer cruises, you can take that route as well with over 4000 cruise itineraries! You can use your points however you wish, how ever often you wish or if you don’t use them, they’ll roll over to the next year.  The benefit of a club like this is that you don’t have to plan your vacation around anyone else except your own family. No need to pick a week to vacation, because you have the freedom of using your points to pick where you want to go – when you want to go. Royal Holiday isn’t about selling off hotel rooms – they’re about experiences. It’s actually a really unique program that allows you to travel the world without having to think about saving up the money since you’ve already bought your membership – likely the reason why they’re growing so quickly with 80,000 members to date.

Anyone who stays with Royal Holidays will definitely enjoy the relaxing pampering, experience that we did. At Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand, you’re there to appreciate upscale dinners, beautiful spa treatments {I’ll tell you all about the couples massage that Tenille and I had together later in the week!},  an impressive gym facility, 5 star customer service including twice daily maid service….the list goes on and on and I can’t wait to tell you even more!
