My children have more air miles on them than any other children I know! Seems like we’re always doing something, flying somewhere or packed up for a road trip to visit someone. Travelling with two kids in tow isn’t always easy and since I don’t anticipate slowing down anytime soon, we’ve had to search out the best solutions for common problems/issues we’ve come across during our adventures.
After hours in the car on road trips around Canada, I’ve arrived at our destinations with sunburned cheeks and a red nose more times that I can count. You don’t really notice especially with the air conditioner on, but the sun beams through the windows and has the same affect on your skin as it would if you were outside at the beach without sunscreen on. I’d never send out the children without a hat on at the very least, but in the car what do you do when you have an infant under 6 months who really shouldn’t have sunscreen applied to their delicate skin? Or a child like mine who breaks out in a rash and whose eyes swell up and water for hours after using sunscreen? As we all know, draping blankets over the stroller isn’t exactly ideal and jamming a blanket in the window of the back seat to sheild the sun from our babie’s eyes isn’t the easiest and it never seems to be in the right spot!
One product I was introduced to recently is called Protect-a-Bub. This company was created by an Aussie mom who was concerned about the harmful rays while strolling and driving with her child. With 290 days a year of scorching sun a year, and boasting the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, sun protection in Australia is an absolute must. The mommie-invented Protect-a-Bub is a line of sun protection products including universal stroller and jogger sunshades, car seat sunshades and all-weather shields for strollers and infant car seats.
Safer than sunshades that attach to car windows with suction cups which can become projectile in the event of an accident, the car seat sunshade will help you maintain peace and quiet during those little {and not-so-little} adventures on the road by blocking the sun no matter what direction it’s coming from. We received a set of sunshades for the boys’ car seats in black. The sides are a woven material to allow for proper air circulation and don’t retain heat. They also fit any convertible/toddler or infant car seat.
As with all of their sunshades, it has been tested and rated UPF 50+, blocking out 99% of the suns harmful UV rays. It attaches easily to all infant and toddler car seats and features adjustable side flaps for added coverage. Protect-a-Bub has been awarded the iParenting Media award, and has been awarded the seal of approval by the melanoma international foundation.
Available for $34.99 here.

I was just asking my husband today (as we drove to the coast and the sun was on my toddler’s head through the back window) why they don’t make toddler car seats with sun shades like they do infant car seats. This is AWESOME! Thanks for the review!
This is GREAT!! We are moving to CA very soon and will definitely need something like this. Thanks for sharing as I haven’t seen anything like this and love it.
Nice, very nice. Glad I came across this.
