britax: b-ready stroller {review & giveaway $499}

As a second time mommie, you’d think I’d know a thing or two about strollers. I honestly thought I did… but when I went shopping for a double stroller to contain our two year old and newborn…I had no idea what I was looking for and wish I had someone to tell me what I’m going to tell you now.  Even if I hadn’t received this B-Ready stroller {499.99} with second seat {$149.99} in exchange for my review {huge, gigantic, squishy hug thanks to Britax} I tell everyone who asks {and some who don’t} that I would definitely, 100%, without a doubt save my pennies for months and months to buy myself this stroller now that I know what I know. Britax wanted to make a stroller that would be the only stroller parents would need from the start. Instead of purchasing a single stroller, then double stroller {like we did}, this is one purchase gives you a ton of options for add-ons depending on your needs. With 14 different configurations allowing for two infant car seats, or a bassinet and toddler seat, or two toddler seats, rear-facing, forward-facing and on and on, this stroller really is where it’s at.

This video I posted pretty much sums it all up: a mom in heels effortlessly spinning around a double stroller and opening and closing it with a flick of her wrist. Is it really that easy? Yep. It is.

Our old double stroller was huge, clunky and HEAVY. Don’t get me wrong…when I picked it out with my mom I was grateful we had something to use for our children with all the running around and walks we go on. But it was so heavy that I couldn’t get it in and out of the trunk alone and I was stuck asking strangers for help or had to depend on my husband to be there to do the work. And work it was – at 50lbs without children {nearly 110lbs with!} there was no way I was easily going anywhere with this stroller. I could hardly push it on the slightest incline, making it around corners was a workout with having to lift up the back wheels, shimmy it around and hopefully make it around the corner without losing a wheel. Here I am with our old  tandem stroller and you can see that the handles almost reach my chest and I can’t see over the first canopy since I’m only 5 feet tall!

Compare the above handle height to the B-Ready handle which is fully adjustable to perfectly fit any size mommie, even shorties like me!

When the B-Ready arrived, my husband easily put it together in about 5-10 minutes. It’s literally “click click click” for all the parts. Nothing complicated, nothing frustrating. The very first thing we noticed when assembling it was the way it felt. It’s quality that you can see AND feel: {click on pics to zoom}

Of course these pics are when it was straight out of the box so it’s clean and shiny. How is it looking after a couple months of use down gravel roads, in the malls, on pavement, through a few trails, and even on a trek across the country in the hands of airport baggage handlers?

Still amazing {alright, maybe a little dirty but it still sparkles…}

The size? We have a mid-size SUV and this is how much room it takes up in our trunk with the second b-ready seat added. It also fits in the trunk and backseat of my mom’s Honda Civic. Pretty flat for a double!

Now, one of the most important factors when buying a stroller: can we {mommies} lift it in and out of the truck without throwing our backs out?

Please excuse the shaky video…I’m a blogger…not a vlogger. And yes, we gave Aidan gum as a bribe to not take off running during the video. That’s grade A parenting right there ;)  Okay, now onto more features!

One thing I forgot to show in the video was the rain cover/wind shield that comes with this stroller. It’s made of durable plastic {not too flimsy, not too heavy} and fits over the top seat and canopy like a glove. We’ve used ours a handful of times because when we’re out for walks sometimes the north wind is so bone-chilling cold even on a nice day that the baby {or Aidan} needs to be covered up with more than a blanket. I’m happy to have this cover for winter since the -40 degrees weather doesn’t keep us inside. My only complaint is that the second seat doesn’t come with its own cover, but you can purchase a full rain cover from Britax that fully covers both children. You can also purchase a boot cover that keeps your child snuggly up to his waist for just $39.99.

All in all, this is a fantastic stroller. It’s durable, looks stylish, isn’t bulky, isn’t too heavy, and the add-on capabilities are vast. I especially love knowing that if baby #3 comes around *cough*, I won’t have to go buy another stroller to fit the infant car seat. I’ll just buy the Britax infant car seat and it’ll pop right into the B-Ready with the car seat adapters it already includes!

I should also let you know that before I sat down to finish up this review I was trying to get Ethan to sleep in my arms and he was having none of it. I put him in the B-Ready and he was out like a light in about 5 seconds. To me that’s worth its weight in gold…{or to be exact this comfy ride retails for $499.99 USD and $529.99 CDN}  ;)

  1. I love pretty much everything about this stroller! I love the multiple options for single or double seating; the huge and easily accessible storage under the seat; the easy fold. But most of all, I love the adjustable handle! I have a really hard time with the height of most stroller handles, but for the opposite reason as you – I’m too tall, at just shy of 6 ft! Would love to not have to hunch over and kill my back once baby comes along! I NEED one of these! lol

  2. I love just every feature I actually have a picture of this by my computer in hopes to have one within 2 1/2 months when my baby is due I love the 1 touch brake, the mulitple inclines WOW just too too excited to list them all! Love everything about it! I have been telling all my friends already about this stroller
    THANKS for an opportunity

  3. I would love the B-Ready. Baby number two is coming in a month and I still haven’t found the perfect stroller. I’m quite certain this is the one! It has all the features I’m looking for…you can’t go wrong with 14 configurations. What’s amazing is that the second seat can recline! Amazing! I have “liked” on both facebook pages as well. I will keep my fingers crossed.
