To be completely honest, when we were car seat shopping for Aidan and Ethan when they were ready to transition from an infant car seat to a convertible, we didn’t go with Britax. Why? We thought that car seats were pretty much all made the same except some came with cushier seats and cup holders and with that a heftier price tag. Now I know how far from the the truth that is. There is a reason why Britax is the leader when it comes to car seat safety – they engineer for safety. They are truly as safe as they can be.

I don’t want to sound like Debbie Downer over the holidays, but head injury in car crashes is the leading cause of death in children aged 0-12. So, knowing this, Britax completely re-designed their entire line of convertible car seats and concentrated on keeping heads safe.

Now only are the choice of colors fabulous – a PINK car seat!! I love it! – but Britax Convertible Car Seats can be used rear facing from 5 to 40 pounds and forward facing from 1 year and 20 pounds, up to 70 pounds, depending on the seat and 49″ or less in height.Â High-capacity convertibles allow your child to stay in a five-point harness through the toddler years.

I’d highly recommend watching the video below so you can see for yourself all the safety features and what sets Britax apart as far as their engineering and safety features go. The convenience features aren’t too shabby either {a plush cover that’s simple to remove for cleaning, harness holders to keep your child from sitting on the straps when you first put them in the seat, tangle-free harness guards, grippy rubber base that won’t cut into your leather seats…}

As you can see in the video, there is a reason why Britax continues to be the best rated car seat out there. We have purchased 3 car seats and they don’t come close to the quality of Britax. First off, you can feel it in the weight. We received the Marathon 70 {or Marathon 65 in Canada} for review and I can tell you first hand that this car seat is heavy duty and a worthwhile investment. This car seat is incredibly secure in our vehicle. It fits extremely tight and it as solid as a rock even rear-facing! The Latch system is a breeze and my husband installed it in a matter of minutes…unlike others which have taken up to 15 minutes trying to secure and tighten the seat.

Check out the steel bars integrated along the bottom of the seat!! Those are there to reduce forward-flexing of your child during a crash. Our old car seat had nothing like this.

Does it drive anyone else crazy when the straps get twisted up so bad that you actually have to remove and re-thread them to fix it!!?? Well the tangle-free 5 point harness isn’t just there to keep me happy, it also distributes crash forces across the strongest parts of the body and secures a really snug fit.

One way that your child may be injured during a crash is by hitting something in the vehicle, such as the back of the front seat. Wondering if it’ll fit in your vehicle? This Marathon car seat fits behind the passenger side perfectly even with my seat pushed back. It won’t fit rear-facing behind my husband because he’s a foot taller than me and has to have his seat back quite a bit more. Forward facing, it’s obviously not a problem.

I really like that there is so much room to grow and fits up to 70lbs. It’ll still be ideal for him when he’s 4 or 5! Will I keep him rear-facing up til he’s the maximum rear-facing limit of 40lbs? I’m not sure. 30 or 35lbs? Maybe. Even if we do switch him forward facing in the next year I feel 100% comfortable with it knowing he’s in a Britax.
