Keurig is definitely one of my favorite products I’ve had on the blog. We use ours 3-5 times a day for coffee between my husband and I and then probably another 2-3 times for tea. It’s very well loved and well used that’s for sure! We really enjoy how quick and easy it is to make a cup of coffee without a lot of clean up {we use the re-usable filter which I’ll tell you more about below} and that it’s perfectly consistent every single time. There is no question about what your coffee, tea, hot chocolate or cold bevvies are going to taste like!

There are several different Keurig brewers to choose from which really just depend on what you’re looking for. Do you need something smaller for your office desk or cottage or a place where you don’t have a lot of space?

Just in time for holiday shopping, Keurig is back on Natural Mommie with their Special Edition Brewing System {$139.99 US/$179.99CDN} The Special Edition features chrome accents and a blue, backlit LCD display, allowing you to program water temperature, set the digital clock and Auto On/Off. With the choice of three cup sizes it also offers a removable drip tray to accommodate travel mugs {so smart!}.

The water reservoir on holds 48oz of water, so about six 8oz cups of coffee can be made before you have to refill it. It also fits in seamlessly with the kitchen in the corner. I like that I can tuck mine back under the cupboards since the reservoir is removable {no need to pour water into it from the top like a traditional coffee brewer}:

So exactly how does the Keurig work to give you steaming hot coffee in under a minute? You pick your favorite flavor/brand of K-Cup,  insert it into the K-Cup holder, press

the handle down which pierces a hole into the top and bottom of the K-Cup, choose your brew size, then hit the “brew” button and hot water flows through straight into your mug below. I love that there’s no guesswork. Larger brew sizes do not provide as strong a cup of coffee as the smaller ones – so if you’re looking for a stronger, more intense cup of coffee, choose the smallest option.

This time around I wanted to highlight the eco-friendly option for using the Keurig and that’s possible with using the My K-Cup Reusable Filter {$17.95}

We tried ours out and it’s a really easy way to make a plain jane coffee with your own grinds. It’s essentially a mini filter basket, holder and lid that takes the place of the k-cup. It still gives you coffee in under a minute, tastes the same everytime {assuming you use the same amount of grinds for each cup} and it only takes a few seconds to rinse out between uses. For eco-conscious Keurig lovers, this is a fantastic option.
