In August 2009, Christina and her sister started a handmade baby goodies company, which you’ll see on Natural Mommie shortly! Prairie Girl Couture began this summer with unique, feminine, wearable and mommie-friendly pieces that are inspired by simple life on the  Canadian prairies.  Her tops and dresses are made with irresistibly soft organic cotton jersey, soft cotton voile and rayon blend knits that will keep you comfortable while running after your little ones and will also bring you up a few notches from your lulus.

I’m slowly realizing the benefit of purchasing custom made to order clothing for myself after all this time. I’m petite and only 5 feet tall so it’s a real struggle to find clothes that fit properly.  A petite XS might fit across the shoulders, but it’s almost always too long in the arms and too short in the waist.  If you’re dealing with a skillful clothing designer who is also a seamstress you can give them your measurements and it should fit perfectly – this was just my experience with Christina of Prairie Girl Couture and I can’t stop raving about her!

I’m wearing the Prairie Girl Couture Jane Cardi in black organic cotton jersey. I sent Christina my measurements for bust circumference, sleeve length and length and it fits beautifully! It’s available in size Small, Medium and Large, however, everything is made to order, so if you need a smaller or larger size, you can let Christina know. She posts approximate measurements for each size here – keep in mind jersey is very stretchy.

The Jane Cardi {$59.99} can be worn three ways: wrapped tightly with the sash tied, wrapped loosely to expose a cute blouse beneath, or untied for a more casual look. Christina suggests that this cardi looks fabulous over a pair of skinny jeans, so that’s what I did and I love the look!  It’s also cute dressed down a bit with jeans and flats and a tank underneath. Above and beyond fit and styling, this cardigan is really, really well made and is something that I would expect to pay more than $60 for if it was from a store-store. And you can wear it so many different ways!

I also love this Orchard Dress. The shape is beautiful and curvy, it has a flattering empire waist, dolman sleeves and a shawl collar {love that!}. The bodice fabric is a chocolate brown rayon blend knit {stretchy} and the skirt fabric is a chocolate brown & raspberry coloured plaid made of a rayon blend stretch suiting material which will move with you. I think it would pretty paired with brown leather boots for the winter.
