how to make your own pumpkin pie spice

I went searching for pumpkin pie spice at the grocery store yesterday and couldn’t find it. I’m glad I didn’t because all the spices that I needed to make my own were sitting in my pantry. News to me!

What you need:

– 1 tsp cinnamon

– 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

– 1/4 tsp ground ginger

– 1/8 tsp ground cloves or allspice

What you do:

Mix together in a small bowl and transfer to a small airtight container. Or make a larger batch to cover you for all your fall, thanksgiving & Christmas baking and store it in a mason jar. {Which I thoroughly enjoy, but I’m craaaaazzzzy about these anthro spice jars pictured above!!}

  1. Yep, so easy, huh? I’ve actually never used Pumpkin Pie Spice. I’ve just used the other spices and thrown them in.

    But yes, those Antro Spice Jars – waaaay cute!

  2. This is how my grandmother used to make her pumpkin pies. Being reminded gives me the idea to add this to my next batch of homemade coffee creamer–my husband loves the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice. I think he would like this, too. Thanks for a great memory of my grandmother and for a nifty idea!

  3. Thank You.
    Your a genius!!!
    Your not the last person to figure this out…I ran out of the spice mix but I have all the other spices in my cupboard. Never would have occured to me to make my own mix, duh. I don’t like nutmeg or allspice unless it is in pumpkin pie so now at least I can use up these spices before they go bad.
