We have a “modern day character/craftsman home”, which essentially means our house has little touches of craftsman inspired architecture throughout. But let’s face it, new construction is new construction and as “character-ish” as our home may be on the outside, the inside needs a little bit of re-working to get away from that typical “builder beige” look of this newly built house.
As shiny and new as our current faucets are, they don’t “go” with the house. They’re extremely modern, sleek and almost masculine looking which is the opposite of what we’re going for around here. Do they look okay? Of course, but we’re planning on sticking around this place for a little while (I hope!) so I’m really working hard to cozy it up and make it our own.
Brizo is a luxury, high end, eco-friendly, fashion division of Masco – you’ve heard of Delta, Kraftmaid and those big guys right? They’re in the same family. This faucet, called Talo, is mama’s new baby and I’ve been itching to install it in our new kitchen for MONTHS! I actually chose this faucet before we purchased this house because I knew it would be a beautiful addition to any kitchen. You can’t go wrong with a classic, right?
Here is an old before shot of our house before we purchased it (sorry about the quality – this was while we were on our house hunting trip!) Notice the minimalist, industrial looking chrome faucet and hose (which felt like plastic). Also notice the builder backsplash and beige walls that I can’t wait to get my hands on!

Above and beyond looking stunning in my kitchen, this faucet is a mom’s dream come true. It has SmartTouch Technology meaning you can do the ‘ol dirty-hands-wrist-bump action to anywhere on the body or handle of the faucet and it’ll turn off and on in a split second. I cook and bake with my children everyday so you can imagine how much easier this makes my life! There’s no need to sanitize in between handling meats and vegetables for fear that my little one might grab onto a handle contaminated with raw meat – dirty hands never come in contact with it! We’re handling food much more safely now and conserving water at the same time.

The install was easily completed by my husband in an hour from start to finish including the removal of our old faucet.
How about the quality?
This is a substantial, tall, heavy, solid as a rock faucet. Everything glides like it should and nothing about it feels cheap or flimsy. The pull down spray wand is very long so it’s a cinch to get a good rinse in the sink whether it be a baby, toddler or chihuahua (Gabby loves her baths with the Talo!!) The Brilliance finish will look the same for life, won’t erode or tarnish, and will keep that beautiful reflective shine. It’s virtually indestructible and resists abrasions.
