When It Comes To Green Juice Do You Need An Expensive Juicer or Blender? | Juicer Giveaway! #HBSocialKitchen | Green Juice Recipe

Making green juice and green smoothies is something I loooove to do. It doesn’t occur everyday like it should but I call it a semi-win if I’m getting in at least a few juicing sessions a week. Now when it comes to juicing we tend to see dollar signs….do we need a $400-$600 high powered blender or a $300 juicer? For me, the answer is no. And you might be surprised (like I was!) that my less expensive Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor actually has a few more pros going for it than my expensive juicer. Intrigued? Read on!

Does it work?

If you’re familiar with juicing and have to go through the process of putting soggy pulp back through the chute a second time to squeeze out as much green goodness as possible, you know this is pretty ick. My Big Mouth Juice Extractor costs $69.99 and manages to extract a ton of liquid from my fruits and veggies. So much so that the pulp feels dry and a second time through isn’t necessary! Come to find out, this juicer actually extracts 24% MORE juice than the leading competitor.

Huge HUGE pro!

And check out that spout! Fits perfectly snug over my mason jar :)

Is it loud?

Yes. And this is completely normal. It just comes with the territory of using a juicer. They’re ALL loud.

Is it annoying to clean?

A little bit, yes. But surprisingly easier than my other juicer. I just rinse off all the plastic pieces with hot water and give the mesh basket a quick scrub with the brush it comes with. Ikea’s $1 kitchen brush also works well. But listen. Juicing is kind of a messy business. There’s pulp, there’s liquids, there’s splatter, there’s little mesh baskets that need to be scrubbed but honestly? It’s not even a 3 minute job. Just accept that cleaning the parts immediately after you’re done is part of the process.

Is it worth it?

Absolutely. At $69.99 this juicer is the bomb and even though I’m a Hamilton Beach Brand Ambassador, if someone was to ask me tomorrow what juicer to buy it’d be this one. I’d buy one for my sister but she already has one ;) The price is right, it’s reliable, it has amazing reviews, and it’s the healthiest small kitchen appliance you could own.

And now you need a healthy recipe, right? Here you go!

ingredients

– 2ish cups spinach (I just grabbed a bunch from my garden!)

– 3 big kale leaves

– 1 cucumber

– 1 apple

– 1.5″ ginger

– 2 stalks celery

– 1/2 to 1 full lemon (slice off the rind)

Juice it all, give it a stir and drink up! Remember to sort of chew your green juice to activate your enzymes. Or pour it into popsicle molds for your kiddos and call them sour green pops! :)

I love juicing and am so happy that it’s become part of the norm for my kids. They adore green juice and love the homemade popsicles I make for them year round.   If you haven’t gave juicing a go yet, I encourage you to try! The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor is not available in stores yet but it’ll be on the shelves soon. Until then, you have a change to win one here! The generous folks at Hamilton Beach are giving one lucky reader their own juicer!

  1. I don’t juice yet, but a few of my friends do. I would love to mix up a few of the berries from my garden with kale!

  2. I haven’t juiced before but I’d love to. I’d love to make juice with our apples and pears from the trees in our yard.
