To say I’ve become obsessed with my actifry is an understatement. I’ve been using it nonstop and love finding new ways to quickly cook for my family without using a ton of oil!
I never wanted to rely or get hooked on quick deep dried food at home…fast food is hard enough to resist so I’ve never purchased a traditional deep fryer or cooked in oil on my stove before. So if you’re used to a traditional deep fryer or deep frying with oil on your stove I have no idea how this compares…all I know is I LOVE my air fryer and how crisp and delicious everything I make is!
By the way, this isn’t a sponsored actifry post…my husband gave me an actifry for Christmas that my kids had to open for me on Christmas morning while I was in a pretty sad state with the stomach flu on the bathroom floor :)
So I’ve avoided making granola forever because for some reason I had it in my head that it was overly complicated and I was always worried I’d burn it. I finally tried it with my air fryer and it was the most ridiculously easy thing I’ve ever made and I’m so angry that I’ve been paying $5 a box for granola all these years!
Here’s what you need:
- 2 cups old fashioned rolls oats (I used No Name large flakes)
- 3/4 cup sliced almonds (or slivered if you prefer tiny things in your granola)
- 2 teaspoons ground flax (next time I’m trying hemp hearts)
- 1/4 cups craisins (or any dried fruit)
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 pure maple syrup (or honey)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
You could also add cinnamon but I left it out because one of my kids doesn’t like it.
Mix everything well except for the dried fruit. Once thoroughly mixed add it to your actifry (mine has a spinner in the middle that gentle moves the granola around so it’s evenly toasted on its own) and set for 6 minutes.
Add in your dried fruit and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Once it’s finished spread it on a baking sheet to cool then store!
Enjoy on yogurt, sprinkle on top of hot oatmeal, give a handful to your kids to snack on…
Let me know if you try it!
