anti inflammatory foods

As promised after last week’s post, here are four specific ways to alleviate the burden from your child’s immune system. Here we go! 1. Reduce inflammation. Inflammation causes your immune system to be on edge, ready to fight! a) In order to reduce inflammation, we must first remove all dietary and environmental agents that the immune system is likely reacting to. For a period of 3-4 weeks, remove all wheat, dairy, eggs, sugar, fried and processed foods from the diet. (I understand this is … [Read more...]

Hello, My 3 1/2 year old daughter and my almost 2 year old daughter have major allergies and it's as if something new becomes an irritant weekly!  My youngest is always stuffed up (not runny nosed, just some sort of something plugging her tiny nose) and I have had to suction her nose at least once a day her entire life thus far. (I'm only guessing that perhaps something in the air triggers that)  She has an allergy to the protein in dairy as well as an exzema reation to eggs.  My oldest gets … [Read more...]

question

Shortly after the post on homebirths, midwives and doulas (oh my!) many of you had follow up questions and emailed them in to us. To expand on the topic a little further here are two questions about high-risk pregnancy and who makes the call for a c-section (midwife? OB?) AND also how do you know if the midwife and/or clinic is a good choice for you? Read on mamas: Hi, My husband and I are not expecting yet, but I have given my options a good bit of thought due to me being a high-risk case … [Read more...]

Hi Dr.Corinne, I have a teenage daughter and she has acne all over her face and some on her back. We would like to know a natural healthy way of getting rid of the acne or at least help it. Maybe there is some kind of healthy diet that my daughter can go on? Thank you so much !Hello there! Acne is a very common concern that affects people in varying degrees from teenagehood right into their thirties. And unfortunately, the cause is often not one specific answer: it is usually a … [Read more...]

depression

Hi Dr. Corinne, I've had depression off and on for about 10 years. I've been off and on anti-depressants and just started a new one that was supposed to help me sleep at night (I stay up til 3-4am some nights, then have to get up at 7-8am with the kids) and kick the depression, but I felt like a zombie on it so I stopped taking it after a few days. I feel really good when I tan but I don't because it's not good for me, and it's only a quick fix for the day after I tan. That boost of vitamin D … [Read more...]

feet-and-sheets

Hi Dr. Corinne! I'm planning to stop taking The Pill at the end of the year, and I am very curious about what my body will think of this new development. I've been taking oral contraceptives for a little over five years, and although I didn't notice any major changes when I started, can you give me an idea of what I might expect? Also, how can I support my body through this transition? Finally, my husband and I would, ideally, like to wait at least another six months before getting pregnant. … [Read more...]

If you missed part 1 of Dr. Corinne's cleanse, click here! OUR PROGRESS So after almost two weeks of our cleanse, we are settling into a routine of things we can and cannot eat. For the first week, the boys would be constantly asking me What can I eat now? Can I eat this? What about that? But now they are getting the hang of it and the questions are dwindling, which is a good sign! Last week I talked about creating a social lull to allow you and your family time to prepare meals and decrease … [Read more...]

At some point in our lives, we should all do a liver cleanse. The liver is an absolutely fascinating organ. It can regenerate itself! And the fact that it's the only organ that has this capability tells you that the body must think it's pretty crucial. The liver is your body's garbage can - it takes everything we ingest that is floating in our blood and breaks it down, detoxifies it, thereby cleansing our blood. Like any garbage can, though, it needs to be emptied. A cleanse is a great way to … [Read more...]

Did you miss last week's question about natural remedies for coughs and colds? Hi Corinne, I have a couple questions, but they're both about exhaustion. 1. How would you suggest someone overcome adrenal fatigue? I have been getting hives from sweating and showering (both heat induced I presume) and I have been told that I have adrenal fatigue which can come about from being chronically stressed. 2. I have been taking B12 shots for the past few months. They seem to be helping, but will I … [Read more...]

Hi Doctor Corinne, My Two year old developed a cold after her Birthday party on August 28th and has had a persistent cough ever since. She had a check up last Friday but it was never checked as we figured it was over. Well, the next day it started again.  This morning she has been coughing up the phlegm but I can't convince her to spit it out when she does. Earlier in the month we ran the Vicks vaporizer in her room, it helped with over night coughs but it was still bad throughout the day. … [Read more...]
