I admit I don't entirely understand the whole "man and his grill" thing but it's their deal and usually I just let my husband take credit for not burning everything *I* (ahem!) prepared! I do understand the need for good tools in the kitchen though since you really do get what you pay for. I remember last year my husband finally bought himself a Mr. Bar-B-Q "flipper" for the BBQ and it was a total game changer for him. He talked about it every. single. time. he was out there poking and prodding … [Read more...]

ergo

My go-to piece of baby gear that always comes along with us is the Ergo. We've been a fan ever since we first purchased ours in 2007. My husband and I wanted something that we could both use and quickly swap a baby in and out of when one of us needed a break, that was easily adjustable with a buckles and that was *actually* comfortable for long periods of time for travel and walks.  I couldn't even tell you how many miles our original carrier has on it! Ours is a gender neutral khaki color … [Read more...]

Crafts are a big one on our christmas list this year. My 4 year old is a crafty little man that likes to create. If I were to ask him what he'd like to do while at home with mama on any given day it would be "bake with you" or "make a craft, mama". Sometimes the creativity is flowing and I'm inspired to craft up all sorts of different things with my boys, but other times, I wish someone would lay it all out for me so I didn't have to spend time gathering all the supplies, not to mention the … [Read more...]

Fresh, a little bit funky, whimsy and earth friendly.  The Zutano brand has flourished with the combination of exceptional product design, the highest quality interlock cotton fabrics {i.e. super soft and breathable} and natural fiber blends.  They’re celebrating more than 20 years as a leader in children’s fashion and still continue year after year to create whimsical newborn, baby and toddler clothing. Last year Zutano came out with their 100% organic cotton line with … [Read more...]

folio covers

This year more than ever I'm noticing how easy it is for important papers like bills, mail, school papers, appointments, and to-do's lists to get lost in the mix. With a preschooler who's busy in activities and a toddler who's not far behind his big brother, our house is busy and usually a little bit (okay sometimes a lot depending on the day) unorganized. Always giving me a helping hand is my trusty  MomAgenda. Sometimes things get really out of whack when I slack at keeping it updated, but … [Read more...]

We have a "modern day character/craftsman home", which essentially means our house has little touches of craftsman inspired architecture throughout. But let's face it, new construction is new construction and as "character-ish" as our home may be on the outside, the inside needs a little bit of re-working to get away from that typical "builder beige" look of this newly built house. As shiny and new as our current faucets are, they don't "go" with the house. They're extremely modern, sleek and … [Read more...]

With two boys in the house we definitively see our share of bumps and bruises on them and ME! So while it's not surprising to see bruises popping up on everyone in our household they're not exactly a nice sight to see on little people! Especially when it's before something important is coming up (why oh why do the bruises and gashes happen days before a family photo session??) Zax Healthcare was started by Alyssa Rolnick, a registered dietitian and proponent of natural health, supported by … [Read more...]

Natural Joy Beauty is comprehensive makeup and skincare store going into its fourth year in business. Along with the online shop, Joy (founder of Natural Joy Beauty) also has a store front in Utah. The business was started out of Joy's desire to create a store where customers could feel confident about the ingredients in all of the products available. She had quickly learned during her own search to find natural alternatives for her own makeup and body care, just how much "green washing" there … [Read more...]

We've bought 3 houses in the past 5 years and it doesn't really get easier each time like you'd assume it would. There's always something to learn, a new policy, a new trick, a new rate {ugh...the rates!} or a new mortgage person! Buying a home whether it's your first or fourth is obviously a huge event that involves lots of discussions that if you're not prepared for, can be really overwhelming and stressful so learning as much as you can is key! Ratesupermarket.ca offers a two week bootcamp … [Read more...]

Aidan's shoes

Umi had me hooked the first time I ever bought a pair of their shoes for my baby boy about 3 years ago. Since then I'm always eager to see what they have in store for the new season and am continually impressed at their collection. As a mom of two busy boys what impresses me most is that Umi shoes are one of the rare brands that can be passed down to little brother without completely worn out toes or seams coming apart. Lucky for me, since I don't necessarily like to order baby sandals online … [Read more...]
