toddler dressing

An old friend who is a speech language pathologist once told us that if you suspect anything that is a little "off" ,for example, your toddler is not saying many words by a certain age {ie. approximately 50 words by age 2}, it's always a good idea to get a referral to a specialist in the field since the process can take quite a while. Once you get the call for an assessment and things are going great, you can just say no. With something as important as our little one's development, it's always … [Read more...]

Not exactly what you expect to see while doing a few home repairs: I know my husband and I are still up in the air about having more children, but the  causes "reproductive harm" and "birth defects" warning worries me. Okay, and the cancer warning is equally as concerning. Above and beyond wearing gloves while installing a new hot water tank relief value, there's really nothing else you can do. What is this chemical and why is it in something as simple as a relief valve? Maybe your … [Read more...]

depression

Hi Dr. Corinne, I've had depression off and on for about 10 years. I've been off and on anti-depressants and just started a new one that was supposed to help me sleep at night (I stay up til 3-4am some nights, then have to get up at 7-8am with the kids) and kick the depression, but I felt like a zombie on it so I stopped taking it after a few days. I feel really good when I tan but I don't because it's not good for me, and it's only a quick fix for the day after I tan. That boost of vitamin D … [Read more...]

feet-and-sheets

Hi Dr. Corinne! I'm planning to stop taking The Pill at the end of the year, and I am very curious about what my body will think of this new development. I've been taking oral contraceptives for a little over five years, and although I didn't notice any major changes when I started, can you give me an idea of what I might expect? Also, how can I support my body through this transition? Finally, my husband and I would, ideally, like to wait at least another six months before getting pregnant. … [Read more...]

aidans eyes

Pink eye in both eyes + sore throat + middle ear infection + runny nose + throwing up = tired little boy & tired mama. I posted this on my facebook page last night and there are a ton of awesome replies {thank you all so much!} with natural alternatives to the medicated eye drops that stung Aidan's eyes and turned the skin around them down his cheeks splotchy, red and sore.  I used breastmilk last night and again this morning and they're already looking better. We're skipping the … [Read more...]

If you missed part 1 of Dr. Corinne's cleanse, click here! OUR PROGRESS So after almost two weeks of our cleanse, we are settling into a routine of things we can and cannot eat. For the first week, the boys would be constantly asking me What can I eat now? Can I eat this? What about that? But now they are getting the hang of it and the questions are dwindling, which is a good sign! Last week I talked about creating a social lull to allow you and your family time to prepare meals and decrease … [Read more...]

At some point in our lives, we should all do a liver cleanse. The liver is an absolutely fascinating organ. It can regenerate itself! And the fact that it's the only organ that has this capability tells you that the body must think it's pretty crucial. The liver is your body's garbage can - it takes everything we ingest that is floating in our blood and breaks it down, detoxifies it, thereby cleansing our blood. Like any garbage can, though, it needs to be emptied. A cleanse is a great way to … [Read more...]

whole foods

In this current economic climate, almost everyone I know is tightening their budgets. Some are cutting out their daily lattes or personal trainers, some are on a total spending hiatus, and others are simply trying to decrease their grocery bills. The question is, how can you save money on groceries—particularly if you, like my family, eat healthy, organic and local foods? Here’s how: meal planning. We are a family of four, and I spend $150/week on healthy, organic, … [Read more...]
