aidan's pants

But why did he have to sneak out with MY boots on when there are 14 pairs of rubber boots to choose from? Oh well, he had fun...he came in smelling like fresh air and a puppy who rolled in mud. My boots were on their way out anyways. Now tell me -- what's your best tip for getting muck stains out of jeans? anti inflammatory foods

As promised after last week’s post, here are four specific ways to alleviate the burden from your child’s immune system. Here we go! 1. Reduce inflammation. Inflammation causes your immune system to be on edge, ready to fight! a) In order to reduce inflammation, we must first remove all dietary and environmental agents that the immune system is likely reacting to. For a period of 3-4 weeks, remove all wheat, dairy, eggs, sugar, fried and processed foods from the diet. (I understand this is … [Read more...]

pretty lunch boxes

PVC, lead, phthalates and over 100 other potentially harmful substances isn't exactly something that should come to mind when purchasing a new lunch box for your children. Sadly though, it is - I think about it everytime my 4 year old sees a superhero lunch box that he'd LOVE to have. And my reply is always, "but baby, it's made of chemicals and it's not a healthy lunch box".  He's okay with my response and happily carries his little organic cotton robot lunch box to school instead. But I … [Read more...]

crackers

It doesn't take much to get kids excited about food when it's tiny and kid-sized but looks sort of grown up. This simple snack is made with the 3 things my kids (and likely yours) will eat up in a hurry: cucumbers, cream cheese and small crackers. These PC®  Blue Menu™ Ancient Grains crackers by themselves aren't a favorite of my boys (even though I love them!) and since I absolutely will not bend and buy them "junk" crackers, to make them a little more tasty and "fancy" according to my … [Read more...]

disney junior mom

We haven't had cable/satellite/pheasant-view for a year but that doesn't mean we don't have Disney Junior on the living room TV like most families with young children! No, we don't have 200 channels to click through but what we do have and make great use of, is my laptop and an HDMI cord in order to watch www.disneyjunior.ca or DVDS on the big TV instead of the laptop. Everyday before breakfast or during quiet time we watch our favorite shows on the Disney Junior website, including Stella & … [Read more...]

As I mentioned in my first post about the Brother Labeler, I've always wanted one but wasn't sure it was worth it the investment. Turns out, it's kind of one of things that you don't realize how much they can affect your life until you own one...like kids  ;)  Okay, not completely, but you get my drift...moving on! As part of the Brother P-Touch Ambassador program, I've been using and abusing my label maker and trusty labels for a few months now. The room that needed the most organizing was … [Read more...]

Hello, My 3 1/2 year old daughter and my almost 2 year old daughter have major allergies and it's as if something new becomes an irritant weekly!  My youngest is always stuffed up (not runny nosed, just some sort of something plugging her tiny nose) and I have had to suction her nose at least once a day her entire life thus far. (I'm only guessing that perhaps something in the air triggers that)  She has an allergy to the protein in dairy as well as an exzema reation to eggs.  My oldest gets … [Read more...]
